'Dialogue with a Landscape'

Malcolm Lockie Race

‘In essence painting is often a solitary pursuit and one that can be uplifting and fulfilling when it goes right, but equally as destructive when it goes wrong. Those wonderful days when I am ‘on a roll’ a day when everything comes easy doesn’t happen often enough but when it does it‘s worth it’

Born in a Durham mining village in the fifties and a graduate of Leeds Fine Art in the seventies, Malcolm spent a lifetime teaching fine art practice and finally retiring as Course leader of the BA Fine Art at Hull School of Art & Design.

Now a full time artist, Malcolm uses the abstract language of colour and mark making to interpret his memories of the East Yorkshire landscape with its changing moods and drama.
